Throws Coach

Alex has been a long-standing fixture in the community for his involvement in the throws events in track & field. He began in his early years as an athlete, taking his hard work and talents right up to the National team level.

While attending Windsor University for his Honours Degree in Human Kinetics, Alex had the opportunity to compete at the University National Championships and was a member of 3 Championship teams. He also had the experience of competing for Canada on the international stage at the Pan-American Games, Francophone Games, and the Commonwealth Games.

As a mature athlete, Alex competed for another decade as a Professional Highland Games Athlete.

Alex is a teacher for the TVDSB and for many years has put all of his experience and hard work to use by working with high school athletes during the school year.

STL is very fortunate to have Alex work with our throws athletes as well.

Elias Granilo
Assistant Coach - Sprints
Assistant Coach - Sprints

Elias began his involvement with STL as a very talented high school sprinter. He continued to develop and excel by homing in on his skill through his athlete/coach relationship with Harry.

Elias continued to Western University where he competed for the Mustangs while he received his BA in Kinesiology and attended Althouse College for his teaching degree. During his time at Western, he had the opportunity to compete at the National University Championships and was a member of the 2012 Men's National Championship team.

Elias is a teacher with the LCDSB and has been using his track & field knowledge to coach the students at his school during the high school season. He continues to work with Harry, now through a coaching relationship, by assisting Harry with working with club athletes at all levels whenever he is called into action.

It is always great to have Elias at practices and meets, and we thank “Eli” for always being just a phone call away.
